2019 Chapter Leadership Conference
The Chapter Leadership Conference will take place January 25-27, 2019 in Dallas, TX. The Conference is an opportunity to hear about current and future AFSP programs, share our successes, and gain skills and training that will benefit your chapters. It is an opportunity for dialogue with AFSP leadership, and offers a chance to network with other chapter volunteers.
Who should attend?
Chapters should select their attendees based on current and future leadership. This is an ideal meeting for future chapter leaders. When selecting attendees, please keep in mind that the topic of suicide will be discussed, and could prove intense for those at an early stage in their grief journey following a personal suicide loss. Additionally, this is a rigorous business meeting with a full schedule. Those who attend must be capable of actively participating. (No CEU credits will be offered.)▲ Back to Top
The National Office will pay for transportation, lodging and most meals* for two (2) attendees from each chapter. In addition, each chapter may bring one (1) additional volunteer whose expenses will be charged to the chapter without any additional approval**.
Chapters wishing to bring more than three (3) volunteers will need approval from your Area Director, Division Director & Mike Lamma, Vice President of Development & Field Management, due to limited space and budget considerations.
All volunteer attendees should plan to arrive in Dallas on Thursday, January 24th and be prepared to depart on Sunday, January 27th. The final session should conclude around 11:00AM on Sunday.
*All meals will be provided except for Friday dinner. Each attendee will pay for your own dinner Friday night.
**The chapter will be responsible for all transit and lodging costs associated with each additional volunteer’s attendance. Rooming costs for additional attendees will be about $543.00 ($157/night + tax)/person, plus the cost for each additional attendee’s airfare.▲ Back to Top
Discuss attendance with your Chapter Board and Area/Division Director. When you’ve finalized your Chapter’s attendees, designate one Chapter Board Member/Area Director to submit the form online to register by November 9th. The pre-approved attendees will then receive an email with all the conference details and information on next steps for booking travel.
