Steve Siple has been Regional Director of Government & Institutional Banking at BBVA Compass for the Eastern U.S. since March 2011. Mr. Siple has over 25 years of banking experience, primarily serving local and state governments, public and private educational institutions, and various nonprofit organizations. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and an MBA from George Mason University (Fairfax, Virginia).
Mr. Siple began his banking career in Charlotte, North Carolina where he specialized in credit facilities for municipal bond market participants. He has led the sales and portfolio management strategy within this industry segment for several top U.S. commercial banks. His career accomplishments include the development of proprietary credit rating models, the design and implementation of credit risk policy, and the placement of several billion dollars of tax exempt debt.
Steve has held a variety of leadership positions both locally and nationally for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (“AFSP”), United Way, Boy Scouts of America and various youth sports programs. He is a frequent speaker at government and nonprofit industry conferences and enjoys guest lecturing in business school classrooms on various college campuses.
Mr. Siple lost his father to suicide in 2001. Since then he has become an active volunteer leader for AFSP. He founded and served as initial Chair of the Board of Directors for its Cincinnati and Alabama Chapters and served as Chair of its Chapter Leadership Council for 3 years. Steve was elected as a member of AFSP’s National Board of Directors in 2006, served as National Treasurer for 3 years, and was recently elected as Chair of its National Board (December 2016).
