Maryel Tomter

A “Southern Yankee”, Maryel was born and raised in Colebrook, NH and graduated from Bay Path College in Longmeadow, MA.  Maryel has been an “Atlantan” for the better part of 25 years, setting her managerial mark early on in Atlanta’s dining scene and now as the founder and principal behind The Renaissance Team.

Maryel became aware of the AFSP Georgia chapter in 2014 while doing work on the documentary “Help Us Find Sunil Tripathi”, which subject matter includes depression and suicide.  That same year, she became even more passionate about working with the Georgia Chapter after the suicide of a close family friend.  Maryel started out as an active volunteer and is now part of the planning team for Atlanta’s “Out of the Darkness Walk”, an avid AFSP fundraiser, and a member of the chapter’s board of directors.
