Ryan Nesbit (Co-Chair and Chair of Alive & Running)
Ryan is the Co-Chair of the AFSP Iowa Chapter and the Co-Director of the Alive & Running 5k for Suicide Prevention. This event takes place annually in Dunkerton on Father’s Day weekend. Ryan lost his best friend, Rodger, to suicide on January 8, 1991, when they were both 15 years old. Ryan’s focus is on suicide prevention for students at the high school and college levels. He does “Talk Saves Lives” presentations all over Iowa for Health classes, school assemblies, teacher professional development, churches, youth groups, and in many other settings. Ryan attends numerous physical/behavioral health conferences as an exhibitor for AFSP to spread awareness concerning suicide prevention. Ryan is married to Melissa and they have 3 children and reside in Ankeny. Ryan enjoys running, meeting new people, and is focused daily on saving lives and spreading hope to those affected by suicide.
