Fundraising for the AFSP Western PA Chapter

Many organizations and individuals hold independent fundraising events or efforts to benefit our AFSP chapter. Such events include sports tournaments, concerts, retail fundraising, bake sales, school dances, and other contributions.

Our Tax Exempt Status, EIN, and Non-Profit Filings:

Our chapter is deeply appreciative of any fundraising efforts directed to our cause, and those funds help us bring awareness and education for suicide prevention and programs to help support those affected by suicide loss. AFSP is a 4-star rated charity on Charity Navigator, and over 80% of money raised goes directly into our programs vs. administrative costs.

AFSP has our own “branded” and well-organized fundraising events that we produce each year. Our Western PA chapter annually holds:

  • Out of the Darkness Community Walks – locations include Pittsburgh and Erie, but we would welcome other locations in Western PA if you would like to volunteer to bring the walk to an additional location.
  • Campus Walks – these locations vary from year to year, based on student organizations who are ready to take the lead in putting on these events, which are an excellent way to bring together campus communities.
  • Motorcycle Ride – “Ride to Fight Suicide” in Washington, PA in late summer each year.
