Alabama State Capitol Day
Mar. 10, 2020
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
For questions about this event, contact Tracie Blackmon Payne at [email protected].
Join us on Tuesday, March 10th for our annual Alabama State Capitol Day. This will take place from 9am-3pm at the Alabama State House, 11 S. Union Street, Montgomery. We will meet in the 6th Floor Lobby.
AFSP State Capitol Days bring together passionate volunteers to advocate for state policy changes that will improve mental health and prevent suicide. We will meet with our state legislators during the event to:
- Share with them why suicide prevention is important to YOU and to our community
- Educate them about the work being done in our community to prevent suicide
- Teach them what more must be done to prevent suicide.
The event will include a brief training session on the basics of an effective advocacy visit and current policy issues impacting suicide prevention. We will then go on several in-person visits with state legislators that will be scheduled ahead of time.
Make sure to register for this event before the deadline of March 8th (follow the registration link) and sign up to be a Field Advocate if you have not done so! All info is at AFSP.org/Advocate.
