Interested in delivering educational programs on suicide prevention to your community? Join the Central PA Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for a one-day facilitator training on our More Than Sad and Talk Saves Lives programs. Too many people at risk for suicide do not seek help, and we need your help reaching those who suffer, and encouraging schools, workplaces, and communities to make mental health a priority.
More Than Sad teaches students and educators how to be smart about mental health. This program is accompanied by two films, Teen Depression and Preventing Teen Suicide. The Teen Depression film teaches students about depression, demystifies treatment, and encourages students who are struggling to seek help. The Preventing Teen Suicide film, which is intended for educators and other school personnel, covers mental health conditions, the warning signs of suicide, and the steps we can take to get help for at-risk students. This program can be delivered to staff/faculty, parents or teens.
Talk Saves Lives is a community-based presentation that covers the general scope of suicide, the research on prevention, and what people can do to fight suicide. Attendees will learn the risk and warning signs of suicide, and how together, we can help prevent it.
After attending this one-day training, you will be uniquely qualified to deliver both of these programs in your community. Together we can reduce the suicide rate in Central PA. Thank you for helping AFSP save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.
This training is free to attend.
