The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s North Dakota chapter is sponsoring a Soul Shop™ suicide prevention training.
This one-day training provides core guidance for faith leaders to respond to suicidality and other impacts of desperation in their communities. This training is appropriate for those who lead a faith community (e.g. Pastor, Rabbi, Imam, Deacon, Minister) or those who are in a leadership or teaching role with members of a faith community (e.g. youth minister, spiritual teacher). It is also appropriate for several leaders in a single faith community to attend.
Michelle Snyder, Soul Shop Director, joined the Soul Shop team in 2014 and will be leading this workshop. Michelle has dual training in mental health (Masters in Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and theology (Masters in Divinity).
More information about Soul Shop can be found at www.soulshopmovement.org
It’s estimated that one out of every two people in a given congregation has personally been affected by suicide. Soul Shop trains faith community leaders to offer support, hope and
connection to those in their congregations. Co-sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Soul Shop equips participants with the resources and guidance they need to
foster hope and healing in their community.
Soul Shop is brought to you by the supporters and walkers of the Bismarck Out of the Darkness Community Walk.
