The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Maryland chapter is sponsoring a Soul Shop For Youth Workers™ suicide prevention training.

This training, offered by Soul Shop, is a one-day training to equip youth pastors, youth leaders, camp directors and camp counselors to minister to those youth impacted by suicidal desperation. Special attention will focus on youth specific issues of impulsivity and contagion. The training includes the creation of worship resource, training congregation members in suicide awareness and basic conversation skills, and the invitation to those who have been suicidal in the past to share their stories

More information about Soul Shop can be found at

It’s estimated that one out of every two people in a given congregation has personally been affected by suicide. Soul Shop trains faith community leaders to offer support, hope and connection to those in their congregations. Co-sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Soul Shop equips participants with the resources and guidance they need to foster hope and healing in their community.
