About the conference
AFSP and the VA have both identified lethal means safety as a primary target for reducing suicide: AFSP named firearms as one of the four focal areas in Project 2025, a nationwide initiative to reduce the annual rate of suicide in the U.S. 20 percent by 2025, and lethal means safety is highlighted in the VA’s 2018 National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide. This conference seeks to educate clinicians to improve the day-to-day clinical management of Veterans in crisis.
