AFSP Colorado
The AFSP Colorado Chapter is primarily made up of volunteers working to prevent suicide here in Colorado - and to provide support to those in our community who have been impacted by suicide.
About the AFSP Colorado Chapter
The grassroots work we do focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by: delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide.
As a part of AFSP’s growing nationwide network of chapters, we bring together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in our communities. Families and friends who have lost someone to suicide, vulnerable individuals, mental health professionals, clergy, educators, students, community/business leaders, and many others energize our chapter.
Request information! Organizations may request information and/or presentations such as AFSP materials, Talk Saves Lives/Education, safeTALK, Mental Health First Aid, and ASIST. To make a request with the AFSP Colorado Chapter, please fill out our online Chapter Request Form. Thank you for your patience as you await a response.
Hear from our volunteers! The AFSP Colorado Chapter is primarily made up of volunteers working to prevent suicide here in Colorado - and to provide support to those in our community who have been impacted by suicide. Hear from our volunteers on their involvement in the AFSP Colorado Chapter and its mission on our AFSP Colorado Chapter Videos page.
Become a field advocate! Field advocates receive emails when there is pending legislation that has a direct impact on suicide prevention and allows for a quick and simple way to send feedback to your specific representatives at a state or national level who may be voting on that legislation. Advocacy is a huge part of the puzzle, and the more voices behind an issue, the more attention it receives. Just register as a field advocate and you’ll be on the path to making a difference!
Connect with Loss Survivors ~ Healing Conversations gives survivors of suicide loss the opportunity to speak with volunteers, who are themselves loss survivors. Available on the phone or by video chat, our volunteers are familiar with the isolation that so often accompanies a death of this kind, and are able to show suicide loss survivors a way forward into a world of support, by creating an opportunity for the newly bereaved to speak openly with, and ask questions of, someone who has been there, too, and truly gets it. Submit a short online form to request a meeting by phone or by video call.
