On March 7th 2023, advocates from the Oklahoma Chapter of the AFSP met with elected officials at the State Capitol to advocate for House Bill 1036. This bill, if passed would create a Veteran Suicide Prevention Task Force. Advocates from the AFSP Chapter provided a come and go luncheon for State Legislators, providing them time to relax and get to know more about AFSP and HB 1036. One of the many highlights of the day is the State Senate, while in session, recognized member f AFSP and the work volunteers do.
On march 22nd the Oklahoma House unanimously passede HB 1036 and on April 12the the State Senate passed the bill.
