Meet AFSP Oklahom Chapter's New Board Members
Please welcome AFSP Oklahoma Chapter's newest Board Members Bill Washington, Theresa Sharp and Lindsey Cooper. These board members were accepted to the board of directors with a unanimous vote of the current board members Lisa Jourden, Gabe Jourden, Robin Hudson LaBlanc, David Threatt, Nerissa Berry, Shiela Williams and Kris Williams.
Bill Washington is originally from Baltimore and moved to Tulsa in 1992 with his wife and two sons. He is the father of three children, Ashley, Bill, and Chris. Bill has had multiple careers throughout his life, including automotive sales, retail management and beverage account management. In 2012 Bill met the love of his life and was remarried. Bill lost his son Christopher in 2020 to suicide and this prompted Bill to get involved with AFSP’s Out of the Darkness Walks. Bill is the Pop Pop to Christopher’s twin boys Zay and Zy and they are his everything. Bill’s passion is to save a life through fundraising and suicide prevention.
Theresa Sharp has dedicated the past 15 years to championing causes of individuals with disabilities and mental health diagnosis. She is currently employed with the Evolution Foundation and works with coalitions and communities across the Northwest part of Oklahoma to provide resources and support where needed. While in her role she has been able to provide ACES, trauma, MHFA and many other trainings across the northwest part of the state to law enforcement, therapist, professionals, and community members.
Her roles have allowed her to be an active leader and advocate around autism and disability awareness as well as both substance use and suicide prevention and awareness. She has been part of the AFSP walk in Enid for the last 5 years, and is trained trainer in MHFA, Talk Saves Lives and Lifelines and a Partners in Policymaking graduate.
Theresa is a wife of 35 years, mom of 2 and new to the grandma club. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and likes going to antique stores and estate sales looking for additions to her glassware collection.
Lindsey Cooper is currently the Operations Manager for Moxie of Oklahoma, but before diving head first into the business world, she worked in Child Welfare. She received her undergraduate degree from BYU-Hawaii in Psychology and will complete her MBA from OSU at the end of this year.
Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her husband of six years, Joshua, and their two weeny dogs, Richard and William. As native Oklahoman’s, Lindsey and Joshua are avid OSU fans, attending a many games as possible, Go Pokes! Lindsey enjoys being active and spends most of her spare time reading.
Lindsey's involvement with AFSP began through Moxie, but her desire to make a positive impact in her community led to joining the board. Lindsey is passionate about the organization's mission of promoting mental health, raising awareness about suicide prevention, and providing support to those affected by suicide.
