Construction, Suicide Prevention, and Mental Health Support

Mental health support is crucial in the construction industry, where workers face unique stressors. Addressing these challenges can save lives and improve the overall well-being of the workforce. Learn why it’s important to prioritize mental health in construction.

Construction workers face one of the highest suicide rates among all professions in the U.S.

In the face of this urgent dilemma, Bechtel is partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Bechtel's $7 million dollar commitment to the AFSP will provide critical resources and programming to 500,000 U.S. construction workers over the next five years. (Learn more here.) The initiative will leverage Bechtel's industry knowledge and reach with AFSP's expertise in suicide prevention research, education programs and effective prevention strategies, along with support from its national network of local chapters.
