Inside the Research
The risk for suicide attempts in suicidal patients increases following hospital discharge. However, it is difficult to know exactly when a crisis is manifesting. Here, the aim is to use mobile EEG to monitor brain function of people who have been recently discharged from the hospital. Using a neural decoding technique, researchers will attempt to detect suicidal crises as they may be occurring. The ability to automatically detect crises may help pave the way for timely lifesaving interventions.
