Inside the Research
Youth with suicidal ideation and behavior may spend days to weeks in emergency departments or hospital medical units awaiting transfer to inpatient psychiatric care. During this time, they are monitored for safety and often do not receive treatment. I-CARE is a digital health intervention that teaches evidence-based psychosocial skills to youth awaiting psychiatric care. I-CARE will be compared to standard safety monitoring in adolescents aged 12 to 17 years who are boarded for suicidal ideation or attempt. If effective, the intervention is easy to disseminate.
