When you choose the AFSP Plate, you’re helping spread hope and healing throughout our Hoosier state and beyond!

• The AFSP license plate is $40, with $25 going directly to the Indiana Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
• You can switch to an AFSP plate at any time, even if your license plate is not up for renewal. 
• Eligible Vehicle Types: Motorcycles, Passenger motor vehicles, Recreational vehicles (RV), Trucks with a declared gross weight of not more than 11,000 pounds

How to get your AFSP license plate

It’s easy to renew or switch to the AFSP license plate 

It’s easy to renew or switch to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) license plate! You can do this at any time. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Visit a BMV branch and change to an AFSP plate for $9.50 amend fee plus the $40 group fee. (Only taxes are prorated during a transaction and only if a renewal or transfer.  The prorated fees do not apply to the SGR plate itself.)

How to Switch to the AFSP Plate

1. Login or create your account on the myBMV.com website. (Or click “renew your license plates without creating an account”)
2. Click “Renew License Plates”
3. Scroll down to license plate / vehicle you wish switch to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and click “Change My Plate”
4. Under “ What category of plate are you looking for?” select “Special Organizations”
5. Under “Now, specific plate would you like to order?” Select “American Foundation for Suicide Prevention”
6. Click “Click Here to Add Cart”
7. Proceed to Checkout.

Renewing is easy!

AFSP’s Mission: Save Lives and Bring Hope to Those Affected by Suicide

Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. We are the largest private donors to suicide prevention research in the world.

AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.  AFSP creates a culture that’s smart about mental health by engaging in the following core strategies:

• Funding scientific research
• Educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention
• Advocating for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention
• Supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide

The Indiana Chapter of AFSP was chartered in 2008. We are an award-winning statewide chapter with volunteers sprinkled in all 92 counties of the Crossroads of America. We are the first (and currently only) state to have an AFSP plate.
