Levels of Volunteer Engagement

  • Day-of-Event Volunteer We have year-round opportunities for volunteers to help at various chapter events. From assisting with setup to helping with event areas (e.g. registration/check-in or activity areas), our chapter needs lots of helping hands to make these events possible! Our greatest need for day-of-event volunteers is during our Out of the Darkness Walk season (September - October), but our community engagement never stops!

  • Advocate Sign up as an AFSP Volunteer Advocate to become a vital part of a large grassroots movement of people who are speaking out for suicide prevention and mental health at all levels of government. Monthly email updates from our public policy office will alert you to the legislation and policies that need your support. Through a quick visit to the AFSP Action Center, you can then demand action from your federal and state public officials in a matter of minutes. Join our network of thousands of volunteer Advocates across the country who are speaking out and fighting for essential policy changes that will save lives. We look forward to you joining our team!

  • Committee Member If you are looking for more consistent and ongoing participation, join one of our chapter committees. Get to know fellow volunteers and chapter leaders, and have a seat at the table where our chapter's future is shaped. We have a wide variety of committees, from fundraising events to chapter operations. Some of these are seasonal, while others are active year-round.

  • Chapter Leadership Looking for a higher level of involvement through leadership opportunities? We are actively looking to fill both Board and non-Board leadership positions across the chapter and need dedicated volunteers to help lead the charge in service of our mission. Chapter leaders develop and steward our strategic plan, and serve as a guide for fellow volunteers. Chapter leadership opportunities vary by level of responsibility and time commitment, depending on position. Meet the NCAC Leadership and see below to take action and learn more about the path to joining our team!
