Name and Board Title

Abby Albaum, Marketing and Outreach Chair

Tell us a little bit about your background – personal and/or professional.

I’m an entrepreneur and marketing strategist with 20+ years of experience building brands in the food, beverage, wellness, and fitness industries. I first joined the AFSP Tampa Bay Chapter Board a decade ago and am proud to return as Public Relations and Community Engagement Chair. Grounded in my work as a fitness and mind-body-spirit flow practitioner, I’m passionate about creating connection, raising awareness, and supporting initiatives that remind people they are not alone.

What city do you call home?

Saint Petersburg

Where did you grow up?

Inverness, FL

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

Flow arts, tennis, making jewelry, and being outdoors, especially on the water.

Why did you become involved with AFSP?

I have instances of suicide loss on both sides of my family and have had my own struggles in the past. I'm now at a place where I can share my story to help serve others. I don't want any other families to go through what we went through.
What was your first introduction to AFSP?
Early on, when this chapter first started, I got involved. I sought AFSP out because I wanted to help make a difference.

What is one of the most important things you would share with the community about AFSP?

No one wants to talk about suicide but in doing so, we provide a safe space for others. We're working to break stigma, help people be seen and understood and further research and education. These things greatly matter, and we're moving in the right direction but still have a long way to go. It starts with advocacy.

What might someone be surprised to learn about you?

I've spent almost 20 years as a professional hula hooper and have been on America's Got Talent.

Do you have a hidden talent?

I'm pretty good on a speed bag :)
