Tell us a little bit about your background – personal and/or professional.
Master’s level, retired teacher, with BS in Business from FSU. I taught for 30 years, all in Brevard County. Widowed in 2000.I brought the Out of the Darkness Walk to Brevard County and served as walk chair for 5 years. Currently I am a suicide loss survivor group facilitator for bimonthly meetingGs in Brevard County.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?
Fur baby fun and games. New York Times daily crossword puzzle, Taylor Swift, the NBA and NFL, Law and Order SVU and spending time with friends.
What might someone be surprised to learn about you?
I became involved with AFSP after my son died by suicide, at 21 years of age. I wish another parent never suffer from the tragedy of suicide!
What was your first introduction to AFSP?
I walked in the Orlando Out of the Darkness walk in 2017 after my son’s death by suicide in 2016. It was then I inquired why there was no Out of the Darkness walk in Brevard County. I was told there was no one to do it and my hand went up, and the Brevard Out of the Darkness walk was born.
What is one of the most important things you would share with the community about AFSP?
AFSP is HOPE❣️Amazing people all working together to bring hope to those whose lives have been touched by suicide. I believe the AFSP saved my life by opening me up to the world of hope that exists with the help and guidance they provide through research, education and resources.
