I love HOCKEY - Go Caps and played D1 Women's softball for University of Maryland
What was your first introduction to AFSP?
In 2013 after the suicide of my 16-year-old son, Evan. He was my happy boy. Unfortunately, after a basketball injury, Evan became a sidelined athlete who fell into a depression - the entire experience was only 4 months! We (our non-profit umttr.org and Evan's friends) immediately jumped into AFSP with both feet and have supported this important cause for over 10 years.
Why did you become involved with AFSP?
I was active in the Maryland chapter and when I moved to FL my friend Alan Mednick made sure I could still be involved and use my skills to organize and fundraise
What is one of the most important things you would share with the community about AFSP?
Suicide has no discrimination. It can happen to anyone, anywhere at any time. It is critical that we continue the mission and bring hope to those who have lost a loved one or made an attempt at their own life.
What are three unexpected items on your desk?
Mickey Mouse, tons of pictures with memories and The Serenity Prayer.
Do you have a hidden talent?
The ability to connect to people, be very approachable and welcoming without being forced. I also speak "dog".
