Employee Resource Groups

An Employee Resource Group (ERG) is a voluntary, employee-led group that's formed around shared interests, backgrounds, or characteristics. ERGs are a space for employees to support each other, share experiences, and promote inclusion and belonging. ERGs can help companies improve employee engagement, retention, and performance. Finally, ERGs can focus on a variety of topics, including ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, parenting, caregiving, etc.

Pride ERG

AFSP is dedicated to preventing suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) people. As a public health organization, AFSP believes that it is our individual and collective responsibility to support the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ people. The LGBTQ+ ERG’s purpose is to advance this critical mission. We serve to provide expertise and lived experiences to ensure that the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ people are included in programs, communications, and policies both internally and externally at AFSP. Additionally, we serve to connect the LGBTQ+ community with AFSP’s staff so that we can support each other personally and professionally. We believe in the core values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for LGBTQ+ people and all minoritized people. We strive to create an environment that is supportive, inclusive, and welcoming for all LGBTQ+ employees and allies.

P.A.C.E (Parenting and Caregiving) ERG

Our purpose is to provide community and connection for prospective and current parents or caregivers to support them as they navigate the unique experiences of being a working parent or caregiver. All AFSP staff are welcome to attend our gatherings.

The Village ERG

The mission of The Village ERG is to uplift and empower Black and African-American employees at AFSP by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that prioritizes wellness, cultural competency and connection. We are dedicated to advocating for equitable resources, promoting mental health in the Black community and creating a workplace where every voice is heard, and all employees can thrive personally and professionally.

WeAreLatinx ERG

The WeAreLatinx ERG is safe space and environment within AFSP for Latinx community members and allies. WeAreLatinx provides a healing space to feel represented and seen and strives to develop and foster a network within AFSP, contributing to the success of the organization’s mission. We advocate for culturally appropriate outreach to our community and empowerment and intentional intersectionality.
