Inside the Research

The feeling of loneliness and lack of social connections are associated with suicide in older adults. Inviting rural senior residents to join in the design and implementation, this study will develop culturally a sensitive social support intervention including group activities and one-to-one home visits. The aims are to provide meaningful human connections, decrease the feeling of loneliness and depressive mood, and eventually prevent suicidal ideation and behavior among rural Chinese older adults.
