Inside the Research
Question: In veterans, are there relationships among oxytocin (OT), social loss, depression, genetics, and suicidal ideation?
Strategy: One hundred U.S. veterans will participate. Oxytocin, a neuropeptide that facilitates social bonding, and social loss, depression, genetics, and suicidal ideation will be assessed.
Impact: Oxytocin may serve as a biological marker of distress.
