The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is proud to support the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention in announcing the launch of the innovative Crisis Workforce Road Map, "Sustaining the Crisis Workforce.” Following the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, this revolutionary plan makes recommendations on fundamentally redefining the approach to the crisis workforce.
The Crisis Workforce Road Map was developed among leaders from public- and private-sectors who bring expertise in issues affecting the crisis workforce. It was led by the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention with support from Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) in collaboration with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
With a focus on recruitment, retention, and support, this strategy equips leaders with the tools to hire and support these vital workers. Through 10 specific recommendations, which include 34 concrete action steps for achieving the proposed strategies, state and national systems-level leaders will have a road map to best support the crisis workforce.
