AFSP Hawai'i
Aloha and welcome to our AFSP Hawai'i Chapter – we are a statewide chapter of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about raising awareness and preventing suicide. We invite you to join us in helping our communities.
About the AFSP Hawai'i Chapter
At the AFSP Hawai‘i Chapter, we believe that by changing the culture—breaking down stigma, encouraging open conversations, and normalizing seeking help—we can help save lives and ensure that no one has to struggle alone.
Our grassroots efforts focus on preventing suicide through education, outreach, and connection. We offer programs that raise awareness of risk factors and warning signs, support those who have lost a loved one, and create spaces where individuals and families impacted by suicide can find understanding, healing, and hope.
As part of AFSP’s nationwide network, we bring together people from all walks of life—those who have experienced loss, individuals navigating their own mental health journeys, and community members who care deeply about making a difference.
Together, we are building a more compassionate Hawai‘i where reaching out is met with support, and every person feels seen, heard, and valued.

Life Can Go On After Heartbreaking Loss
Karen Ng started volunteering with AFSP following the death of her younger sister Karine in 2018. After attending a Survivor Day event and feeling touched by how the event embraced survivors of suicide loss, she formed a Walks fundraising team to invoke the joyful spirit of her sister.
