Walkers at a Community Walk

AFSP Hawai'i

Aloha and welcome to our AFSP Hawai'i Chapter website. Our team is made up of compassionate and dedicated individuals from O'ahu, Kauai, Maui, and Hawai'i. We invite you to join us and learn how you can start serving your community today.

About the AFSP Hawai'i Chapter

The grassroots work we do focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to individuals who have lost someone to suicide.

As a part of AFSP's growing nationwide network of chapters, we bring together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in our communities. Families and friends who have lost someone to suicide, vulnerable individuals, mental health professionals, clergy, educators, students, community/business leaders, and many others energize our chapter. Join us to help spread aloha and to reach out to those in need.

Maui

Our hearts go out to everyone on Maui. We know that everyone in Hawaii is affected in some way. While the walk scheduled on Maui is in an area outside the impact zone, we have made the decision to postpone the walk until late winter/early Spring 2024. We would like to be sure every resource is going to the disaster recovery efforts at this time, including water, tents, chairs, and other supplies.

It’s all about kokua for the island of Maui right now and we have arranged for AFSP literature and resources to be available as National Suicide Prevention Month is quickly approaching.  Mahalo for all that you do to help make suicide safer communities.

We know that tragic events may cause emotional distress. The Maui Wildfire Recovery Resources website is continually updated. We hope you find this resource helpful. (scan QR code below)

We look forward to working together to make a Maui Strong Out of the Darkness Walk in 2024. Should you have any questions please contact [email protected]
