Chapter representatives accepting Award at 2026 Chapter Leadership Conference

AFSP Long Island Chapter was awarded "Overall Chapter of the Year" at the 21st annual Chapter Leadership Conference in Denver CO at the end of January 2026.  This is the highest honor a chapter can receive-and it marks the first time in our chapter's history that we have earned this distinction.  This award recognizes excellence across every area of our work, including fundraising, education, advocacy, community engagement, loss support, and volunteer leadership.  It reflects not just one program or one event, but the collective impact of an entire communtiy working together with compassion, dedication and purpose.  We are incredibly proud of this milestone, and see it not as a finish line-but at motivation to keep going.  There is still so much work to be done, and this recognition strengthens our resolve to continue building a stronger, more connected, and more compassionate Long Island.  With your continue support, we will keep expanding education, providing resources, supporting survivors, and advocating for policies that save lives.

In addition to the Overall Chapter of the Year Award, the Long Island Out of the Darkness Walk at Jones Beach was awarded the 2nd largest fundraising community walk in the Country.  With over 386 Community Walks taking place across the country, the success of this walk is a testament to the support of the Long Island Community in saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.
