AFSP Minnesota

The Minnesota Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is primarily made up of volunteers working to prevent suicide in Minnesota, and to provide support to those in our community who have been impacted by suicide.

About the AFSP Minnesota Chapter

At AFSP, our mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. The grassroots work we do focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by: delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide.

As a part of AFSP’s growing nationwide network of chapters, we bring together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in our communities. Families and friends who have lost someone to suicide, vulnerable individuals, mental health professionals, clergy, educators, students, community/business leaders, and many others energize our chapter.

💙 Request a Program: AFSP Minnesota offers many community programs for suicide prevention to individuals, organizations, and employers across the state. If you are interested in hosting a presentation, educational program or professional training, please complete our Program Request Form.

💙 Request Materials: AFSP Minnesota provides many resources for our community, covering many topics such as prevention education, the importance of research, supporting loss survivors, and much more. Whether your are hosting an awareness or fundraising event or are looking to have materials at your school or a local business, please email us to request materials.

Making International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day Accessible to the Deaf Community

I’m an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. I’ve spent more than half my life in the Deaf Community, and am forever grateful they’ve allowed me to be part of their world. On March 31st, 2017, I gained a new identity: a Sibling Suicide Loss Survivor.
