In 2023, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) partnered with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to develop a series of ECHO programs aimed at strengthening the capacity of health care professionals and community partners to integrate The Blueprint for Youth Suicide Prevention in clinical and community settings. Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a knowledge-sharing model in which people from different backgrounds, disciplines, and locations come together in a virtual community to learn from each other and share support, guidance, and feedback.
The Suicide Prevention Clinical ECHOs trained health care professionals in clinical strategies outlined in the Blueprint to enhance their ability to identify and support youth at risk for suicide.
